I took Kallie into the doctor's today after dealing with her poop issue for months upon months. Basically, we have to re-train Kallie and her body. She is on a dose of miralax every day for the next year or so. We have to get her going every two days or so and get her intestine as empty as possible to fix the muscles inside which have most likely been damaged due to this child holding her bowels for so long. Anyway, so she'll get miralax every day with her juice and she'll have to sit on the potty after breakfast and after dinner to "try" to go. She cannot have any candy whatsoever unless she poops (from anyone, including the grandparents that want to spoil her!). I guess what's happening is that because she's holding it for so long, the thinner stool in her small intestine is starting to push it's way around the large stool in her large intestine (which becomes way too big for her to get out on her own with any kind of ease...hence the needing laxatives after a while) and out into her undies...which is what happens when we find small stool in her undies. We're not to punish her for this because it's involuntary, but the doc told us to have Kallie help clean her undies when it happens...not as a consequence or a punishment, but to take responsibility for what happened (like cleaning up her play area). Anyway, so this is going to be a long road but hopefully we can fix her and this can be a thing of the past!
