Cape Cod Vacay

We were able to meet up with our friends Wendy, Lily, and Jake, who we were stationed in Virginia with, for a 4 day vacation in Cape Cod while they were here visiting family here in the North East. Though the kids bickered and fought like CRAZY, we had a blast and can't wait to do it again next year!

The weather was pretty nice on Sunday and Monday (with highs in the low 70's), but Tuesday and Wednesday were both COLD and/or wet. We took the kids to the beach, an indoor play place, to a taffy shop to watch the candy maker actually make the taffy, to a picnic in the park, and the mall.

We took the kids to the beach the next morning, figuring it would be really, the only chance we got because the weather the next two days was COLD (and rainy). The girls had an absolute blast at the beach and didn't care in the least that it was chilly. I was cold just watching them traipse around in their swimsuits. Haley also loved the beach though and was in amazement of the water "water, water, water...water!" is what she would yell. It was cute. She didn't care either that the water was FREEZING!







On Tuesday we took the girls to an indoor play place called "Bonkers" and also to the mall (the mall was a huge mistake...neither baby felt like sitting in their strollers so it was really, a bad mall trip). It was both cold and rainy out on Tuesday so we had to find indoor activities to do...and there was no way we were keeping them cooped up in the house! All they did was fight! The girls would fight over absolutely everything, and the babies would fight because Haley is one bossy little 19 month old ("No, MINE!"). Both babies loved to torment each other I think. But, I guess that's what happens when you're a kid and you're with someone 24/7. Regardless of the fighting, we all had fun.

On our final day in Cape Cod (Wednesday), we took the kids to watch taffy being made at a taffy shop, went souvenir shopping, to the Chatham Light (an actual, operating, Coast Guard Lighthouse) and to the park. While at the park, Haley managed to fall and break a tooth. I was mortified but hey, what can ya do? Haley is a crazily insane baby, so I KNEW something would happen sooner or later. At least it's not a broken leg or something.

We had such a great time with our friends and really, can't wait to do it again next year (though we're hoping for nicer weather and more grown up kids, haha). I really enjoyed spending time with Wendy and it's making me realize again how much I miss my friends. We got a lot of chatting in (and margaritas til 1am!) and it was some MUCH needed adult friend time for me! Thanks, Wendy, Lily, and Jake for a GREAT time!
